Clamming on Coatue, surfing at Cisco, Bartlett Farm tomatoes, these are a few of our favorite things (in the summer).   Swimming on the north shore, tennis in ‘Sconset and dining on the deck….sailing in the harbor, fine dining, the 4th of July. There is no place like Nantucket in the summer.

It used to be that a Nantucket summer vacation required a six week rental.  Either June 15 through July, or August 1st through September 15.  That was also the time that vacationers made their plans at least a year in advance. Travel was almost exclusively by “steamship”, often from New Bedford or Woods Hole, and it could take up to 6 hours.  The steamship would transport your family and loved ones, plus six weeks of supplies, to a vacation that is much different than today’s typical stay!

The ultimate goal for a modern family is to find a house on the island that fits them perfectly – and then return year after year until the pull of Nantucket requires a more permanent solution.  One of the most rewarding parts of our job is to notice and nurture that experience.  Once you arrive, via steamship or private flight, the island will provide the background for the memories that keep you coming back.  Nantucket is unlike any other vacation destination and most vacationers eagerly look forward to returning.  Part of our job is to help you have a rental experience that keeps you coming back.  That, and the island information and recommendations that come with a relationship to a broker from Atlantic East/Nantucket Real Estate, are invaluable!  Hint: Steamship tickets go on sale January 15, 2013.

It is not too late to make your rental plans for this summer but you should move quickly as we have been very, very busy with rental bookings. We pride ourselves on orchestrating stress-free rentals and we do a manageable number of rentals, allowing for more personal attention.  Please contact one of our brokers to get going.
