Nantucket Real Estate: Month of October 2014

The numbers are in for the month of October and it was the busiest October in more than 10 years.  There were 84 closings for a total of $162,367,518.  Compare this to 2013 with 72 closings for $143 million and 2012 with 63 for $105 million.  There were 63 sales of residential properties (total of $138 million), 17 sales of vacant parcels of land ($18 million) and 4 commercial property sales ($6 million).  The least expensive residential property sale was 7 Bayberry Court, a condomunium unit located in the Mid-island area, selling for $390,000.  The highest priced sale was a property located on Harborview Drive in Shimmo, with potential for subdivision, selling for $7.1 million.

The strong activity for the month of October has put the year to date total over $824 million with 2 of the most active months still to come.  The real estate market on Nantucket is on track to exceed one billion dollars for only the 3rd time ever.
