Plant Some Sunshine!

The month of April on Nantucket can still feel like winter, but not if your yard is abloom with daffodils! Now is the time to plant these little treasures, right up until the ground freezes in late December. The bulbs are available on the island (Bartletts, Marine Home Center, Valeros) or through many reputable mail order catalogs.  Daffodil bulbs are perennials, so they will bloom year after year.   The deer do not bother them and they are mighty resilient, lasting through a surprise snow storm, wind or downpour.   Plant now and you will be enjoying some of the first blooms of the spring.
