The Nantucket Health Department yesterday issued an emergency order requiring that we have to wear masks/face coverings in public and inside if we are unable to practice social distancing of at least 6 feet from other people. Nantucket has been very fortunate, due to the fact that islanders followed instructions from Town and hospital leadership, to have had only 14 cases of COVID-19 until recently. There has been a rise in the number of new cases of the coronavirus in the past week and these measures are being taken to control the spread of the virus.
