Ken and his wife Gussie moved to Nantucket in 1994 (having been a summer visitor for many years) and Ken purchased Nantucket Real Estate Co. the following year. After obtaining degrees from Brown, Columbia Law School (Doctor of Law) and the University of London, (Masters Degree in law) Ken worked as a lawyer with a Wall Street law firm in New York City. He left the law practice and went into the financial services field where he lived and worked in England, France, Switzerland, Holland, the Bahamas, Japan and Canada. He was President and CEO of the US operations of Manulife Financial prior to his move to Nantucket when he purchased Nantucket Real Estate Co.
Ken has been a director and President of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce, a six term President of the Nantucket Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), a committee member of the school housing project, and a director of the Nantucket Housing Office and the Nantucket Rotary Club. He is currently a trustee of the Nantucket Historical Association and the Nantucket Preservation Trust, the incoming President of NAREB, one of the two wardens of St. Paul’s Church, the Chair of the Community Preservation Committee, and a newly elected member of the Board of Governors of The Westmoor Club. Ken has also been active in supporting his wife’s roles with the Nantucket Community Music Center and the Nantucket Palliative and Supportive Care Foundation. The Beaugrand’s have three children, Chris and Jason in San Francisco and Samantha in Boston.
