Sustainable Nantucket and the Nantucket Atheneum are co-sponsoring free documentary films at the Atheneum once a month on Friday nights. It has been appropriately named “Our Sense of Place Documentary Film Series”. Past movies include: Dirt! The Movie, Fuel and Tapped. The series runs from September to May and focus on matters of our environment, economy, agriculture, sustainability, and more. A local expert is usually available for a question & answer session or discussion after the movie. To view the upcoming movies go to: www.sustainable.org or Film Series.
The mission of Sustainable Nantucket is: “To cultivate a healthy Nantucket by building a better local food system which in turn means a stronger economy for the island. These efforts include expanding agricultural production; increasing access to local food for the community, through our farmers market and in our restaurants, schools, hospital and other facilities; and educating our community about sustainability.”
