(March 16, 2015) Lottery applications to purchase an affordable home as part of the first phase of the Sachem’s Path off Surfside Road will be available Sunday, March 22 at www.sachemspath.org
Nantucket residents can also pick up applications beginning Monday, March 23 at the following island locations: Nantucket Atheneum, 1 India St.; Town & County Building, 16 Broad St.; Housing Nantucket, 75 Old South Road; Nantucket Housing Authority, 3 Manta Drive.
Housing Assistance Corporation will also have applications available at its offices at 460 West Main St. in Hyannis.
Sachem’s Path, a Nantucket initiative to provide new, high-quality affordable homes, is being constructed on a 9.2-acre site off Surfside Road. Phase 1 of the project will include 15 homes that are being developed by HAC and one home by Habitat for Humanity Nantucket. Infrastructure work for the project began last fall and construction of the first home is anticipated to begin this summer. When complete, Sachem’s Path will consist of 40 homes.
HAC will hold two informational sessions about the Sachem’s Path project and the lottery-application process at Nantucket High School, 10 Surfside Road, Saturday, March 28, from 1-3 p.m., and Thursday, April 2 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The deadline to submit a Sachem’s Path lottery application to HAC is Thursday, May 21 by 5 pm. Applications can be mailed or delivered to HAC at 460 West Main St., Hyannis, 02601; faxed to ((508) 775-7434; or e-mailed to barmstrong@haconcapecod.org.
