The Nantucket Board of Selectmen have set the following major goals for this year:
Improved Financial Management
Coastal Management
Wastewater Management Plan
Facilities Management – Longer Term
Financial Management Improvement: Selectman Michael Kopko spoke of growing pains in our community and pointed out that “Nantucket is not what it used to be”. The good news is that the BOS, the Finance Committee and the Audit Committee have been spending time getting caught up on the audits and Nantucket has now had two consecutive qualified audits. A number of changes have been instituted by working closely with the auditing firm, including timely reporting to the state Department
of Revenue, and the BOS is confident that these efforts are paying off and will continue to do so into the future.
