NAREB Helps Fight Island Hunger

From the I&M:  It’s not uncommon for families who spend a week, a month or even the entire summer on Nantucket to have a considerable amount of unopened food, toiletries and cosmetics left over in their vacation rentals when they head back home at the end of their stay.

In the past, the solution was to simply dispose of them or leave the items for someone else to take care of. But now, thanks to Lynne O’Brien, Pantry Partners – a nonprofit organization that serves as a way for summer visitors to donate to local food pantries – is here to help.
The way it works is simple: When renters check into their house, they will be given a flyer with information about the program and a magnet will be placed on the refrigerator.
