The Nantucket Select Board voted last night, unanimously, to proceed with the draft Regulations Governing Short Term Rental Properties on Nantucket with some minor modifications. The Board of Health will be responsible for overseeing and enforcing the regulations. Among other things, owners of properties that are rented for less than 32 nights will need to register with the Town, pay an annual registration fee, provide a copy of the DOR registration certificate, have an individual who cn be physically available 24 hours a day to respond to issues, provide a certificate of isurance evidencing liability coverage for at least $1 million per claim (same as the state requirement) and that the owner is in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and that the owner is current with payment of all of their bills to the Town of Nantucket.
