At our Annual Town Meeting a modification to an existing zoning by-law was passed relating to private swimming pools. After some discussion, Article 48 was favorably voted on and now requires the following minimum lot size and setbacks in certain zoning districts:
• In the R-1, SR-1, R-5, and R-5L districts only, the following criteria must be
met: (1) a minimum lot area of 7,500 square feet is required, and (2) side and
rear yard setbacks of 10 feet shall apply to the residential swimming pool
and associated mechanical equipment. This requirement shall apply to
residential swimming pools for which a building permit is issued after
September 30, 2021.
It will be interesting to see if this spurs on a bunch of applications for pools before September 30, 2021.
