The summer season is opening pretty much on schedule, with seasonal restaurants open by mid- to late May.

Nantucket expects a very busy summer this year as more and more people are feeling comfortable traveling once again. Resorts and hotels are also reporting strong bookings for the season. Considering this, be sure to book your fine-dining reservations well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Parking in town is also expected to be very difficult to find, especially in the evening. We encourage you to find alternate ways to get to your destination. If you live nearby, walk to your reservation, or ride a bike. Consider taking the island’s public-transit buses, The WAVE, if there is a stop nearby your home. Or, call a cab or ride-share. If you are having a few drinks, this is the smart decision to make anyway.

As always, we ask you to dress appropriately and be respectful of restaurant staff. Servers do not like to be hollered at, called out, have fingers snapped to get their attention or grabbed by the arm. In case you didn’t know it, touching anyone is a no-no.

Tip generously, whether you are ordering a take-out sandwich or a three-course meal with an expensive bottle of wine. Servers rely on tips for the large part of their weekly paycheck.

Nantucket has a wonderful variety of restaurants, take-out establishments and food emporiums. Many of them are listed within these pages.
